Mosque of Pasha Gazi Kászim
We are facing one of the most striking architectural symbols of the city of Pécs. This is the old mosque of Pasha Gazi Kaszim, located at the end of the Széchenzi square. It was built by the Turks between 1543-1546 with the stones of the old Gothic church of San Bartolomeo from the Ottoman period and was later converted into a Catholic church. The typical Turkish exterior gives way to an interior space that combines symbols of the two religous faiths in perfect harmony. It is a wonderful place to spend a tranquil few hours.
