Singular réplica de una antigua cámara fotográfica
En el año 2007 se conmemoraron en la ciudad de Sitges los 40 años del famoso Festival de Cine Fantástico de Cataluña, festival que se viene celebrando dese el año 1968 y que se inició como una semana dedicada al cine internacional que privilegió el cine fantástico y de terror, siendo el referente obligado de los aficionados a este género de películas.
Ya ampliadas sus secciones con el cambio del milenio hoy forma parte del circuito que conforma los grandes certámenes que se celebran en Europa toda.
Si recorremos el casco histórico de esta singular y bella ciudad nos encontramos que sobre un pequeño atalaya que se asoma sobre la playa de San Sebastián se destaca el Monumento que representa una gran cámara cinematográfica que rinde merecido homenaje al cumplirse los primeros cuarenta años de este festival. Esa gran cámara de hierro enfocando al mar y con una pequeña placa de bronce que reza: Postal de Sitges de Joan Iriarte, está sostenida por las tres patas, rellenas de material en el centro y en el que puede leerse “Homenatge a Sitges Fotofilm en el 40 Aniversari del Festival de Cinema. Sitges 2007”. Hacia ella se pueden ver en el suelo las huellas de un par de pies, los que sugieren la presencia del operador. Los datos son de la Oficina Municipal de Turismo de Sitges.
