Monument to Water and Land

En el centro de la localidad de Don Benito, en la Plaza de España, se encuentra el Monumento al agua y la tierra. Durante la remodelación de la plaza de la plaza en el año 1965 se aprovechó para colocar en el centro de la misma dicho monumento del escultor Pérez Comendador. Se dice que esta obra es única ya que dos de las figuras que alberga están realizadas con diferentes materiales, un hombre realizado en piedra y una mujer realizada en bronce. También encontramos en la base que sustenta a estas dos imágenes versos dedicados al Río Guadiana escritos por D. Celestino Vega Mateos. El Monumento al agua y la tierra sirve además de fuente con las aguas traídas desde el propio Río Guadiana. Una obra singular que forma parte del paisaje urbano de Don Benito en uno de los lugares de mayor confluencia por encontrarse rodeado de lugares de interés turístico y de una amplia zona comercial.
