King Naresuan the Great
At the gates of the temple Wat Phu Khao Thong, there's a statue dedicated to King Naresuan the Great in the center of the square leading to the resort. He reigned from 1590 to 1605 and introduce Muai Thai boxing into the local army to defend against the Burmese. The bronze statue of the king who won the independence of the kingdom is surrounded by figures of roosters. He was one of the most revered kings in Siam, and this is certainly one of the places you must see in Ayutthaya.
