Este monumento se erige al final de la Av. Misiones (muy cerca de la entrada del túnel de La Habana), frente al Malecón. Se trata de una estatua ecuestre, realizada en 1.935 por el arquitecto cubano Aldo Gamba dedicada a Máximo Gómez, General en Jefe del Ejército Libertador. El monumento está realizado en mármol blanco de Carrara, salvo las estatuas que son de bronce. Consta de tres cuerpos: Una escalinata, un templete de forma rectangular con 12 columnas de mármol blanco en el que hay varios bajorrelieves, y en lo alto la estatua del General con mirada altiva, montado a caballo y vestido con traje de campaña.
This monument is erected at the end of Av. Misiones (very near the tunnel entrance Havana), opposite the Malecon. It is an equestrian statue, made in 1935 by Cuban architect Aldo Gamba dedicated to Maximo Gomez, General in Chief of the Liberation Army. The monument is made of white Carrara marble, except the statues are bronze. It consists of three bodies: A stairway, a pavilion of rectangular shape with 12 white marble columns in which there are several bas-reliefs, and on top the statue of General haughty look, horseback and dressed in battle dress.
