Monument Meeting Between Two Worlds

At the foot of the fortress of Monterreal, on the wall of the crescent of the Constable is this huge sculpture of 9 meters in width and 4.5 in height, made of granite by Magin Picallo. It consists of several groups of figures representing Galicia, America, emigration and return, which are arranged around a large sphere that symbolizes the world and contains soil samples from all of the 22 countries of Latin America. It was built on the occasion of the V Centenary of the discovery of America by Columbus, since this port was called the Pinta and it was captained by Pinzon from the New World.
