Montolieu

Excellent

Montolieu is a small village located 17 kilometers from Carcassonne in the South of France. It is known as "Village des Arts du libre & Graphiques". In 1989 Michel Braibant, a professional bookbinder, village prompted the creation of the book and graphic arts from the idea Montolieu initiated in other peoples of Europe. In 1990, many book stores were built in the area, and so a sort-of book universe was created, as it remains today. In the streets you will find very traditional shops, bookstores, craftsmen, Museum of arts and crafts of the book (Michel Braibant Museum), the House of Poetry, The Cooperative (Center of art and literature), the church of San Andrew ...also be sure to remember that all through year, many events related to the books occurs such as workshops and courses.

There are also lots of booksellers, publishers, bookbinders, artisans, printers come together in this town. Due to these factors, this town has grown a lot economically. I recommend visiting as you will find the libraries featuring many old and new books, used books and any subject. The people are open and friendly and are happy to help you, all amidst a setting of beautiful landscapes, wine and good food. Can not ask for more.
