very quaint and rustic
Indian Valley Mine is between the city of Anchorage and the town of Girdwood, and is a fun place to spend an afternoon looking for gold. Gold is found in nearly every Alaskan river, but it's better to go to a place where they teach you how to do it. It's a great place and costs between $ 10 and $ 20 depending on the amount of land you want. The place itself is very quaint and rustic with a small shop selling trinkets and souvenirs.
