Millenarian Olive Trees

2 reviews of Millenarian Olive Trees

Path of the thousand-year-old olive trees

This route lies in the town of Canet lo Roig, to the north of Castellon de la Plana, in the Bajo Meestrazgo area. It's a town that lives off the olive industry, like most of the regions.

The proposed intinerary goes by olive trees, carob trees and almond trees until ending up at the beautiful Santa Isabel chapel.

Distance: 5.5 km.
Duration: about 1 hour and 20 minutes
Difficulty: low
Beginning point: the wash area and Font del Canal
Ending point: the wash area and Fond del Canal

Path: we start at the wash area and Font del Canal. We'll head towards the Santa Isabel chapel's ethnological complex, crossing the Els Ratxos, where we'll see magnificent thousand-year-old olive trees. You'll see the entrance to the town on the map with the thousand-year-old-olive path taking you there, in front of Calvario.

As we continue walking, heading deeper into fig, carot, and almond fields, passing hundreds of olive trees before we arrive at Pou, a washing, rafting complex by the spring, next Canet lo Roig.

It's a short, but lovely passage. It's ideal for families or those people who aren't used to walking so much.

About the olive tree route: they created seven different routes, naming them after the geographical region they pass through. The routes are linked with the architectural and cultural patrimony, with buildings like the Molí de l'Oli, which in the future will become a museum, the Vía Augusta, the roman path, and the chapels and springs that are found in the area.

Everything is very well indicated. The president of the cooperative wants to add a panel of information about the route at the entrance of the city. This will help indicate and explain specific points of interest. Also, they plan to add guides to accompany visitors.
