Neoclassical style city
Lansing is the capital of the State of Michigan, and therein lies the Capitol of the State. It has been declared a National Historic Landmark Place and inside is the Senate and the House of Representatives. It is curious that unlike in Spain, in the U.S. the capital of each state is not a big city. Thus, the first capitol was Detroit, the original capital of Michigan until 1847. It is built in a neoclassical style and was began in 1872 by architect Elijah E. Myers. Construction was completed in 1878. It's 81.3 metres high and there are 4 floors, not counting the dome. The façade is beautiful, that shows state symbols such as agriculture, maritime transport, mining etc...Truthfully it's very impressive, the whole place is a marvel.
