An Ancient Mosque
The Sidi Saiyad Mosque, built in 1573, which sits next to the river is one of the most impressive buildings in this city. It once formed part of the Bhadra fort walls. It has ten semicircular windows which weave a mesh representing the branches of a tree (known as jalis) and this is the symbol of the city. It was the last mosque built under the reign of the Sultan.
