Buenos Aires Metropolitan Cathedral

While La Plata, capital of the province of Buenos Aires, is famous for its beautiful buildings, the cathedral is the most stunning and iconic of them all. It is both striking and huge (it is one of the largest temples in America), and the church is considered to be one of the ten most important temples in the world. Construction began in 1884, but it took almost a century to finish it completely. The design of the cathedral is inspired by the cathedrals of Amiens (France) and Cologne (Germany). The architectual style, which is Gothic, is spectacularly beautiful. Its dimensions are enormous. For example, the towers are 112 meters high, it has 89 windows, of which 37 are made of stained glass (French and German), and it has 7000 m2 of roof.
