Monument of the resistance
In front of the Hotel Bohemia is the "Memorial of the Soviet army's victory over fascism." This sculpture by Jan Hanna is relevant and shows the thinking of the Czech artists of the time. During WWII many Czech writers died in fascist concentration camps. He had created a resistance movement that was expressed through the literature on the life and history of the Czech people. During the war the theme was the struggle for liberation and this was reflected in many literary works about socialism as a solution. This movement of socialist ideas emerged in the 40s and endure hard bumps and a resurgance in the 70s.
