Despite being in the central Plaza de San Isidoro, this column is often overlooked because it is on one end of the square, somewhat "hidden". It was made in the year 1968 to mark the nineteenth anniversary of the founding of the Legio VII Gemina, a Roman camp that gave rise to the city of Leon. This is a tall fluted column of 28 meters high on a pedestal in which there are commemorative plaques. It is topped by a Corinthian capital on which there is a perpetual stork nest, which is held every year.
