Medina of Safi

Medina means "the city" in Arabic, but now this term refers to the ancient city, usually fortified, and not the modern city, built during the French colonization. Safi has a very nice, but small medina. It's not difficult to find, unlike Marrakesh, and you can see it in an afternoon. The streets are narrow, with plenty of small shops. Some streets are covered from the sun. It's a very lively place, with carriages and donkeys. It's still retained some of it's historical charm.
