1 review of Medieval Village of Sobreiro

An open air museum constructed by one old man

The town is in the Sobreiro road from Mafra to Ericeira, just halfway, the road through the town and one side there is a man who is very old constructed a walled town that lacks anything, there are stores, bakeries, bars ,school, houses, music, chapel, cobbler shop, mill etc. ... We drove through it for around 15 years about 5 to 6 times a year and I never thought to stop. It was a village over the road and right on the edge of it is a piece of what looks like the ruins of a wall, but that's all you see, for days we stopped there to buy a bottle of water and I found that these were not stores or houses where people lived but an open air museum where the houses and all structures are medieval so quite old and what interested me was a stop to buy water became a 2-hour stop with 200 pictures.

There are only 3 things that work there, a churreria, 2 bars and a bakery, where I bought bread that has been with me for 4 days. I hope you enjoy the photos. The guy who made this was named Jose Franco, I tried searching on google but have not found anything, so I do not know why he devoted his time to do that. It has an interesting chapel where the assumptions are all lattice employers and the employers who are San Pedro, San Juan and San Antonio are a nilos screaming. It has an outdoor market with stalls with white marble counter, stores in which devices are another century as an oil pump which is great, there are also recreated inside some houses with their entire families. It was a discovery that I will go more times to see.
