Unique home
The Marquis of Vila Real lived in this house on Avenida Carvalho Araújo, opposite the former Convent of Santo Domingo (also known as Casa del Arco). The 2-storey building was built in the sixteenth century and the granite facade is adorned by four manuelinas mullioned windows, which are the most remarkable element of the house. The lineage of the Marquis of Vila Real ended in 1641 when the last descendant, D. Pedro de Meneses, was beheaded in Lisbon's Rossio Square accused of treason to King João IV. The tourist office is in the basement of this unique home.
