Tasty food, good atmosphere
The Marquis Cornwallis is a pub in Russell Square, next to the metro station that bears the same name. It's about a 15 minute walk from The British Museum. The place is open all day, and has good deals around noon. We shared a platter, which was an assortment of various dishes, such as breaded and fried zucchini, fried calamari, a mini burgers, and pita bread with hummus and tzatziki. It was pretty good, and the service was pretty quick. The Marquis Cornwallis has a room up starts if you want a more formal dining experience, but we were down stairs because there was a good atmosphere and it's where you can share drinks.
There is a great selection of beers, and "guest ales", that vary with the seasons. The beer is worth 3 pounds or so and the platter was 12 pounds. The food upstairs is tasty, they have seasonal menu and English classics.
