Jauregui Market
The Xalapa or Jauregui market was one of the most interesting markets I saw in Mexico. It has everything:. food, toys, hardware and things for the home ... but what is going to draw attention is the esoteric side. First of all the part where you have images of devotion to Santa Muerte, along with Guadalupe and other saints and Christs. Then we went to the Day of the Dead level with all calveras, candy, pinatas and other decorations. There was a third floor selling herbs, remedies and spells that last all year. Hates and loves, work and envy, money and inheritance, everything has a caboda in the market that has a solution for everything.
Remedies also for the physical, such as unwanted pregnancies, and menopausal migraines, fertilities and female infertility that seem cured by simply adding a few drops of juice in a drink or burning coloured herb candles. The smell of plants and remedies overwhelm as well as how easy it is to find a solution for anything in this market, so we left, but wondered if we were wrong not to buy anything .....
