Mariaberget ("Mountain Mary") is a set of high hills which is north of Södermalm. All mountain (only measured, but is pure rock, too expensive to be worked) faces north and due to the unevenness has several parks with viewpoints that give rise to some of the best views of Stockholm. Today it is an area where many aspire appreciated being able to have an apartment. One feature that makes it nice and cozy is that the density of large buildings is lower than in other parts of the island and the city. The large amount of rock and mountain height (more than 60 meters in some parts) makes it a difficult task to build and would have aesthetically unattractive results. There are still some houses that populated the mountain three centuries ago. Few, but quickly distinguished for being wooden, red on one level. Curiously in 1885 was built an elevator (Mariahissen) that helps overcome the large gap that exists between the various properties and streets. It's really uncomfortable walking downhill through the streets with 15 degrees below zero and all frozen ...

Mariaberget, mountain marie is a series of hills to the north of the island of Södermalm. All mountain peak to the north, it has not been leveled because the rock is too hard, so it is almost no houses, and it is mainly an area of parks and gardens. There are views of the other islands that make up Stockholm, really worth the trip. Today it is a popular area to live, many people looking to buy in the area, but that is its charm, it is precisely because the area is sparsely built. The mountain is more than 60 meters in some places, which quickly discouraged more than an architect. From the top of the hill, there is a lot of wind, and as it is already less than 10, we did not stay long, just long enough to enjoy a panoramic view of Gamlastan, Kungsholmen, the city hall, parliament, church spiers and Lake Malaren that bathes the city. In 1885, the city built a lift to compensate for the height difference between the streets below and those above. It is still in service.
