Marshland
The marshes of Saint-Jean-de-Monts play an important role in the history of the city. In fact, they were used to irrigate the fields and to extract salt. You can take a short trip to discover the fauna and flora, or follow the salt route to visit the salt mines. During my visit I saw herons! You can also go to meet the "chaumeurs," the craftsmen who built the thatched roofs of the houses (known as bourrines). And in summer you can attend various events such as racing yawl in rivers.
