Cakes, smoothies, juices, teas, coffees...

Mandala is a coffee bar in the centre of Salamanca, renowned for its pastries and smoothies. They are freshly prepared, you choose the base, milk, yogurt or juice, then add the fruit you want, and they prepare it for you. In general the shakes are worth between 3.50 and 5 euros, depending on the season and the price of the fruit. You can add grain, honey, walnuts ... they’re really good.

Generally students come mostly from the nearby university. It is a place to go after class, or for after dinner to have dessert. They make very good tarts and cakes that they sell whole or in slices. In addition there are tapas and pinchos, as well as combined dishes. But it is more a cafe than anything else.

There is a large selection of teas and coffees, infusions and other hot drinks. For coffee lovers, a great place.

When I visited Salamanca, Mandala Cafe was recommended, but I would have gone anyway as it caught my attention whilst walking around Salamanca. Located directly opposite La Casa de las Conchas, on a side street leading to it, so you can’t miss it.

The location is visible from the street thanks to the large glass windows. Upon entering, the entrance decor surprises, a curious tree decorated with pumpkins. In this first area, upon entering, there are a few tables on one side, the most intimate spot of the cafe. To the right, down some stairs, is the main area, with stools besides the long bar and tables and chairs.

A little farther in front of the entrance area, and climbing some stairs, is another area of tables, focused more on the restaurant area. The bathrooms are at the end of a flight of stairs, and I was amazed at how beautiful and spacious they were, decorated, like the rest of the local, with cheerful tiles. The main area is also decorated with flowers and an Indian style motif.

The Café Mandala offers lunch menus, simple and economical, more focused on students, but what stands out in the locale is its snack service, where we find a comprehensive menu of teas, coffees, natural smoothies and their best dish: the fantastic cakes, each one better than the last, that make your mouth water.
The restaurant also offers some tapas, and quiches.

During my stay in Salamanca I went several times, and I can attest that the cakes are as good as promised, the only drawback is choosing which one as there are many varieties. The slices are generous, and the price great, only €3.50.

To accompany the cakes I tried several coffees, but I especially liked the mint coffee, a drink with mint liqueur, coffee and cream, delicious and well-priced too: 1.80€.

It must be said that the prices have a supplement if you eat at a table instead of the bar, but it is not much difference, just € 0.20.

It is a great place that I liked and recommend; the only downside is that is usually very crowded, making it difficult to find a place. Otherwise, highly recommended.
