Malibu Beach
A trip to the beach was included in one of the trips offered on the Barbados Holiday Dream cruise organised by Pullmantur. The visit was short, I think only a couple of hours, which I know isn't very much. I was surprised how much marketing was done on this whole scenario. There is an admission charge (about 2€), which entitles you to use sunbeds and umbrellas on the beach. The beach was wonderful, large, fine golden sand, the sea like a pond, and the water was warm and clear. There were also booths that sold souvenirs and drinks. I was struck by the presence of security guards. On the beach there were also people who look like Bob Marley who offered to give you a back rub or foot massage (for a charge).
This is the beach where the distillery is located in Malibu, you can visit it: See a video which explains to you the process of distillation and manufacture of the liquor, which was invented by a coconut falling in a barrel of rum on this island. Of course, there is a tasting and the sale of liquor. I found it a super site geared to tourists, although I must admit it was very well put together, and after spending all day on an excursion I appreciated a little bit of sunshine.
