A Frozen Experience in the Tropics
For something different, we visited Magic Ice while traveling to Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas on a Caribbean cruise. It is an ice art gallery where there are many sculptures created out of ice. When we arrived, we were provided with coats, mittens, and leg warmers that we wore over our shorts and t-shirts. We walked behind a heavy door and were transported to a frozen wonderland. There were so many beautiful ice sculptures everywhere! They have been created by 16 world class artists from around the globe. There were lots of brightly colored lights that reflected off the ice, giving the sculptures depth.
Music played in the background. There were some interactive exhibits, like an ice slide that you could actually ride down! This attraction is fun for adults and children alike. There was even a fully functioning ice bar where you could go for a drink. Each tour ticket came with a shot of flavored rum that was made right in the US Virgin Islands - it was delicious! Magic Ice is conveniently located right in the middle of downtown Charlotte Amalie. If you're visiting St. Thomas on a cruise or on holidays, you can easily walk here without having to book an excursion through the ship.
