1 review of Lynmouth

Charming small town

A charming small town on the coast of Devon, in southwest England. Built on the River Lyn, and its name, Lyn's mouth, indicates it flows into the sea. There were many surfers when we went in late October. It was cold and we needed jackets and hats, but surfers seemed happy to be in the water. The village is separated from its twin town, named Lynton, by a large cliff. To go from one to another there is a little old funicular, which formerly served to bring all assets of the port down to the center of Lynton. Lynmouth is a summer city. Many hotels, restaurants, for fish and chips, busy in summer when the weather is fine, and then one day there were too many people considering the kind of weather! The buildings are situated on each side of the river, then the town ends against the cliff.
