In the 17th Century, St Jean de Luz (Donibane Lohitzune), lived its splendor, when King Louis XIV decided to get married in the Church of San Juan Bautista to the Infanta Maria Teresa. The king and his family lived for six weeks in the "House of Louis XIV", which is situated next to the Town Hall. In his honor, in the year 1932, a statue of the king was placed in the courtyard of this council.
