Ludwigskirche

Questa chiesa cattolica imponente domina Ludwigsstrasse fungendo anche da chiesa universitaria. Viene spesso ricordata perché ospita il secondo affresco d’altare più esteso al mondo realizzato da Peter von Cornelius con il giudizio universale. La chiesa risale al 1829 ed ha una struttura imponente con due campanili sulla facciata e pianta in stile bizantino. Subì gravi danni durante la seconda guerra mondiale ma i lavori di restauro e ricostruzione le restituirono la originale bellezza. Questa chiesa è stata presa a modello da moltissime chiese nel mondo, specialmente negli Stati Uniti.

This imposing Catholic church dominates Ludwigsstrasse also acting as a university church. It is often remembered because hosting the second fresco daltare most extensive in the world built by Peter von Cornelius with the judgment. The church dates from 1829 and has an imposing structure with two towers on the facade and plant in the Byzantine style. Sub serious damage during the Second World War but the restoration and reconstruction of the returned the original beauty. This church was a model for many churches in the world, especially in the United States.
