Works that last a lifetime...

Excellent

The Acueducto dos Pegões collected water from four springs and supplied it to the Convent of Christ. It's a monumental engineering feat built by Philippe in 1593, after his proclamation as king before the Cortes of Tomar in 1581. It's six kilometres long and has 180 arches. The construction lasted for 20 years, from 1593 to 1614. I understand that you can walk along the top of the aqueduct, providing a place from which you can admire the countryside it flows through. Next to the Convent of Christ (Tomar-Portugal), there is a small part of the aqueduct, and even though you can't see the whole work
