Lord Street
Southport is a seaside town in the county of Merseyside, near Liverpool, on the west coast of England. It is a very attractive tourist resort for the British tourist seeking peace, and a place to rest from the busy life of nearby large cities such as Liverpool or Manchester. Lord Street measures one mile exactly (about 1.6 km) and is one of the busiest shopping streets in Northern England. It is built in the Victorian style, and is a combination of shops, public buildings and private homes. One my favorite stores, located in this street is Watersones a fantastic bookshop present throughout the national territory.
Napoleon III stayed for a while in the vicinity of the street before he was crowned Emperor of France and it is said he was inspired by this street to build the streets that would become the famous boulevards of Paris.
