Lope is a new addition to the trend in Madrid of opening restaurants that look like a kitchen from 1950's middle-America. Unlike the others, though, Lope doesn't put design and "vibe" over good food and drinks.
The restaurant has a lovely atmosphere of comfy chairs, sofas, and book shelves filled with comics. They have some tapas and cakes at the bar and also a dining area for actual meals. The food (from what I judged on the menu, I was just there for drinks) seems like classic Spanish but with a market-fresh modern touch. The plates that passed by my table looked absolutely delicious.
