Longuinhos Statue
This statue is the first thing you see when you reach the Sanctuary of Bom Jesus, it's on the esplanade in front of the temple (Terreiro of Moses), at the end of the steps. It's an equestrian statue representing São Longuinhos, dressed as a soldier and carrying a shield and spear. It was made of granite in 1819 in one piece by the sculptor Pedro José Luis, and is on the spot where the old church tower stood. On the pedestal with the figure is a sundial.
