Long Beach on Redang Island

Long beach has the blues of seas surrounded by palm trees and pure white sand. it's the longest beach on the island of Redang located at the far est of the Malaysian peninsula. There are a couple small family-run resorts which blend seamlessly into the surrounding nature. Each one has a restaurant (good, cheap fresh fish!) and its own little section of beach. The best time to go is during the summer season from May to October when the water is calm and unbelievably clear. Just a little ways out there are some excellent coral reefs for snorkeling where you'll probably see some of the small reef sharks which are native to the area.

Went here without knowing I would be able to snorkel with sea turtles. This was in 2002 so I'm not sure if it's still possible? It was a wonderful experience and a memory for a lifetime. The islands itself also was really beautiful, small but nice. I do hope everyone who goes here is careful and takes care of it.
