Lighthouse
The Leca da Palmeira lighthouse first operated in December 15, 1926, 60 years after it was noted the coastline needed a lighthouse at this point. It was a school for lighthouse keepers from 1926 to 1962. In 1950 it was modernized with the installation of an elevator and new rotating machinery, and in 1964 it was connected to the public grid.
