Library of Sarajevo

Library of Sarajevo. I had read somewhere that the Library of Sarajevo had already restored its facade, I'm sorry but NO. I can confirm that for now the facade is equal to or worse than it was a few years ago. By 2005, the central dome was restored and now some columns of the central dome have also been restored - that is all for the moment but I hope that we can enjoy this building again sometime soon. La bibliothèque a brûlé pendant trois jours, du 25 au 28 août, après avoir été prise pour cible par les serbes assiégeant la ville. Des employés de la bibliothèque et des volontaires sont parvenus à sauver un certain nombre de livres précieux, malgré les tirs des snipers, qui ont mortellement touché une bibliothécaire. Seuls 10 % des collections ont échappé à cette destruction ; les catalogues imprimés et sur fiches, les systèmes informatiques ont également disparu.

The library has burned for three days, from August 25 to 28, having been targeted by Serb besieging the city. Of library staff and volunteers managed to save a number of valuable books, despite the snipers, who fatally shot a librarian.
