Letchworth State Park

Too bad we had only one day to visit the Letchworth State Park. Known as the "Grand Canyon of the East", to me it seemed like a marvel of Mother Nature. Although not as spectacular as the Grand Canyon, here the Genesee River has carved a deep gorge, which provides visitors with amazing views. It's beautiful at any time of year, but the autumn is the best time to see the explosion of spectacular colours. There are three sets of waterfalls, lower, intermediate and upper falls, and a number of walking trails of varying degrees of difficulty and lengths. There are several picnic areas, and you can rent a cabin and practice whitewater rafting.
