Leo Carillo State Beach

Avoid the inevitable crowds at Santa Monica Beach by driving farther north to this less busy beach in Malibu. It is a little bit of a drive (about an hour from Santa Monica), but it’s for that reason that it’s pretty secluded, which can be nice for those who desire a less chaotic environment in LA County. Leo Carillo is a particularly nice beach for surfers – the waves are pretty nice. There are also caves and reefs to explore. It’s a nice place for beach-combing, too. In addition to surfers, I highly recommend this place for those who like taking photos and want a non-chaotic place to hang out.
