Matthias Corvinus
King Matthias' surname was Corvinus, meaning "crow" in Latin. According to legend, the king was out hunting and dropped his royal ring which was subsequently picked up by a crow. Well, the king chased the bird down and finally got his ring back. From that point on, a raven with a ring became the king's symbol. You can see references to his legend throughout Budapest, but the best examples are on the castle hates and one of the domes of the Matthias Church.
