The Laurissilva Forest is a subtropical moist forest, the green heart of Madeira. It is the most unique botanical spot in all the world; the island is generally not very wet, but here the vegetation is due to the moist soil type. It is lush with ferns, mosses, and lichens that paint incredible landscapes, making it ideal for hiking.
