A Mississippi Valley Plantation
The "Laura Plantation" is actually the Duparc family home. Guillaume Duparc, a French Navy veteran who participated in the American Revolution, was given this valuable land as a reward for his services, and he turned it into a sugar plantation. In 1936, Laura Locoul Gore wrote the history of 100 years on a Louisiana sugar plantation, and it was renamed in her honor.
