Very impressive gardens

Della Neapolis Archaeological Park is a great place to not only see the Greek and Roman ruins, but also to see the very impressive gardens. Upon entering the park the first thing you see is a beautiful, huge garden called the garden of paradise. This is a garden that is situated between limestone quarries and caves full of gaping holes. All the vegetation here is amazing. There all kinds of flowers and plants but the most beautiful are the olive and orange trees. These gardens were created when the caverns in the walls were uncovered, which was after the earthquake of 1693. Before, these cavities were buried by the earth.

Some of the other highlights of the park include the ORECCHIA di Dionisio or some of the other caves. The Necropoli Grotticelli dei, which is a huge set of Greek and Byzantine tombs, is located at the top of the garden. This garden makes visiting the park during the hot summer much more enjoyable. The trees in this "paradise" provide wonderful shade shadows and a very calming atmosphere.

The quarries of the Magna Grecia

One of the most famous is called latomias Ear of Dionysius, for the current input form. The word "Latomia" derives from Greek, composed of "the" meaning stone and "volumes", meaning to cut. There are currently countless and compound words with the suffix "-tomy", most of them allied to medicine. The quarries occupy a large area and worth to see them go into the advanced technology used 2,500 years ago to remove huge boulders.

The burial of Archimedes
