Belen Tower of Minho
Buttonhole Tower (La Torre de Lapela) is about 5 km away from the Portuguese town of Monçao in a beautiful setting on the banks of the river Miño. The Torre del Homenaje is very similar to that found in the town of Melgaço, a little further north, it was part of the Portuguese border defense, whose origins began in the reign of D. Afonso Henriques. The castle was partly demolished in the time of D. Joao V (1706). Currently it only retains this Torre del Homenaje which is about 35 meters high and is known as Minho Pitoresco like Belen Tower of Minho. I took these pictures.
