Lambert Museum

The Lambert Collection is a contemporary art museum in Violette de Avignon. It opened in 2000 when Avignon was designated the European Capital of Culture for one year. The building was a noble mansion in the eighteenth century where Yvon Lambert, gallerist and collector, decided to expose his private collection. The goal was, upon death, to donate the entire collection to a foundation for the public to discover. In total there are now more than 1,200 works, from the 60s until today. They have 3 exhibitions each year, usually theater-oriented and artistic, and sometimes in collaboration with other international museums.
