Lago Nambino is a hidden gem amongst the pistes of Madonna di Campiglio. A local legend claims that a dragon once lived beneath it's tranquil surface.
It is just over half an hours walk from the patascoss carpark along a woodland trail. There is a short circuit around the lake and a luxury Rifugio. The Rifugio offers rooms with en-suite bathrooms and fine dining but is only open seasonally.
We climbed up the 266 path to Busa dei Cavai for around an hour and picnicked, whilst enjoying panoramic views of the jagged ridge of the UNESCO listed Brenta Dolomites.
In the summer this can be part of the longer five lakes circuit.
