Laeng Mountain Hut

Il Laeng è un piccolo rifugio posizionato ai piedi del Pizzo Camino, sopra l’abitato di Borno, in una meravigliosa conca alpina e rappresenta una comoda soluzione, anche se spartana, per un pernottamento durante un’escursione in alta montagna e per le ascensioni alle vicine vette. Attualmente il rifugio è gestito dall’associazione Mato Grosso, che ha provveduto ad una recente ristrutturazione migliorando il comfort della struttura, aggiungendo un bagno interno, una spaziosa sala per la ristorazione ed ampliando il bivacco invernale, sempre aperto. La camerata è costituita da tre letti a castello in legno a tre piani, per un totale di nove posti letto. I volontari de Mato Grosso provvedono a rifornire il rifugio di provviste e tutto l’occorrente, un gran lavoro visto che il luogo non può essere raggiunto da mezzi di trasporto ma esclusivamente a piedi. Presso il rifugio è possibile consumare pasti, con un menu giornaliero che prevede 2/3 scelte per ogni portata. Dall’abitato di Borno occorrono circa 2 ore e mezza di cammino per raggiungere il rifugio Laeng, aperto tutti i giorni a luglio e agosto, nei week end nei mesi di giugno e settembre. Il prezzo per pernottamento, colazione e cena è di € 35 per il 2012; obbligatorio è l’uso del sacco lenzuolo che si anche acquistare sul posto.

The Laeng is a small shelter located at the foot of Pizzo Camino, above the town of Borno, in a wonderful Alpine basin and is a convenient solution, although basic, for an overnight stay while hiking in the high mountains and climbs to nearby peaks.
