Labyrinth of Buda Castle

8 reviews of Labyrinth of Buda Castle

A different Budapest

Hot spring water against the limestone of the hill created this system of caves that runs more than 1,200 metres long. Throughout history, this maze has had various functions: a shelter for prehistoric man half a million years ago, a wine cellar, torture chamber, prison, safe house, bunker, military hospital ... in 1980 it was renovated and you can find several exhibitions here.

In the basement of Budapest there are more than two hundred caves which today can only visit four. On the climb to the Castle District by the back by accident we saw the entrance to the Royal Palace this with ms and ten kilometers from galleys shaped maze and which can be visited only about four kilometers. This labyrinth of caves with thermal waters, makes nearly half-million years, the usasen primitive men as a shelter and in turn hunting. In times of Turkish invasion, they served to unite the cellars of houses in the neighborhood and provide a basis for military purposes. At the entrance to the caves lit candles you get one because despite the lights in the ground to indicate the way, this is hardly seen.

An experience out of the ordinary

If you are around the beautiful Hungarian town and especially in the area you are old, one called Buda, you can go to experience something out of the ordinary or visit the underground labyrinths Budapest's castle. Once inside and bought the ticket (which has a very high cost, as the rest do not have almost nothing in a city that has for Italians in prices really low) the adventure begins. You can choose to bring their own map and wander the maze on their own or take advantage of one of the guides to introduce visitors to this place. The mazes are really very dark and very humid, so better to obtain a hat and a scarf even if you are to visit in the summer. Between a cave and another one you can see carvings and paintings on the walls. There are also a number of statues p disturbing. To visit if you want to live an extraordinary experience.

Me gustó bastante.
One of the things that surprised me Buddha, besides its streets are a World Heritage Site is the existence of the maze that runs downs. The underground city is full of small corridors that have been restored and illuminated and can be visited by tourists. In fact, they have created routes and allow you to eat inside as if it were a place for a picnic. I quite liked.

the maintenance is scarce or rather null

Fatal! They did not let us in without explaining anything, after paying clear, we went in the afternoon and they did not tell us that we had to take a gas lamp that they had ayi so we could see something because the lights in the afternoon turn them off to give it a more gloomy. Of yes, if it was not enough, some corridors were full of smoke, which made it look even less. The maps are scarce during the tour and they solve little thing to you ... the maintenance is scarce or rather null. It gives more fear than another thing, we lost several times, we had to turn around and leave the entrance ... the worst spent florins in budapest without any doubt ........

A very curious place

Un sitio muy curioso

Excellent
We enter the labyrinth without really knowing what we would find and really surprised us. What we think is an indoor fountain flowing with wine, amazing. The price for students is 1500 HUF.
