La Sala de Asambleas
Most historic buildings in Hexham, one way or another, are related to the abbey and the Bishop of York, one of the most important characters in medieval England. The abbey is a building with several functions, primarily providing religious services by the Bishop and other clergy. It has been suggested that its construction dates back to the year 1400 AD. It is a tower-shaped structure with a tunnel-shaped access facility, suggesting controlled access to the abbey and the city as a whole. It is a very striking and interesting building. Visiting hours are restricted.
