One of the most interesting streets
For most visitors, and even New Yorkers who are little versed in the history of their city, Eighth Avenue is nothing more than a road that carries traffic north towards Central Park from the West Village neighborhood. However, it is also one of the most interesting streets in the city, and many famous people have lived here. The Dakota building can be found here, where John Lennon was murdered and where his widow Yoko Ono still lives. And then there's the San Remo, home to U2's lead singer Bono, Demi Moore and Diane Keaton, as well as the famous El Dorado, Beresford, The Langham, The Century and the scene of several meetings and gangland murders, The Majestic. Most of these homes were built around 1930, replacing the hotels of the late 19th century with the same names. Some like El Siglo, the San Remo, and The Majestic, have twin towers.
