Ivan Costa
hostel, large, comfortable rooms
This is a hostel (not a hotel) 10 minutes from the center of the Yucatan capital of Merida. I emphasize the difference in terms of comfort. They boast five rooms with 8, 6, 4, or 2 beds, and they will provide bedcovers and pillows. The bathrooms are large and spacious, and they have comfortable rooms. In this area of the country, it's hot most of the year. I went in June and there were temperatures of 40-43 degrees Celsius, though they have several fans at your disposal and free wifi. The whole house is decorated with more than 300 works of Yucatan and Spanish art, which gives a special charm to your rest.
A very relaxed place to rest, whatever your time. Edwin, who runs the Inn, is friendly and nice, always willing to help and offer his expertise and recommendations, such as excursions to Chiceh, Itza and Uxmal. If you want to go on your own without hiring guides and transportation, he will also give you the solutions you need, such as where to visit, where to eat and information on all kinds on places. It's like everything in Yucatec: quiet and affable. The only negative thing is that they must be paid in cash, and you don't have a key to get in anytime, but you have to call to get the door opened for you (there is a 4am curfew). For me, this is the ideal place to rest in Merida: near the center, cheap, quiet, and pleasant.
