Chania
Jania, or Chanea Xania (Chania) is 140 km from Iraklion in the Haniá and Kríti region on the island of Crete, Greece. The administrative capital of the island. A population of about 66,000. In a fertile and flat area, for excursions to the far west of Crete. In 1252 the Venetians built a fortress on the acropolis of ancient Kidonia and 300 years later surrounded it with walls and a moat around the city. After the Turkish invasion in 1645 were added some buildings (mosques, fountains ...) behind the old port in the Venetian quarter.
