Kentucky State Capitol

We hadn't planned to visit Frankfort during our trip last summer, but because of a little setback along the way, we ended up in what is the capital of the state of Kentucky. Most Europeans probably haven't even heard of this town with its German name. It's one of the smallest capitals in the US, and contains little more than the state's public administration buildings. The most important building here, the State Capitol, sits on top of a little hill, just like its more famous equivalent in Washington DC. It's home to the executive, legislative and judicial branches of Kentucky's state government and is quite impressive to look at.
